Hyundai SmartSense technology and features

What is Hyundai SmartSense? It is a system of driver assistance technologies that help drivers make safe decisions on the road. There are several functions available with Hyundai SmartSense, as you will see below. Keep reading to learn more about Hyundai SmartSense advanced safety technology.

List of Hyundai SmartSense features

There are four main features of Hyundai SmartSense. You can find details on each one below. Some features may be known by multiple names, and some vehicles may have more technologies than these main four. The list of Hyundai SmartSense features is as follows:

  • Cruise control or Smart Cruise Control
  • Downhill Brake Control (DBC)
  • Lane Keeping Assist
  • Blind-spot Collision Warning

Hyundai SmartSense – cruise control

Hyundai SmartSense cruise control and Smart Cruise Control are systems that help you maintain your speed without having to keep your foot on the gas. These systems work at highway speeds and allow you to focus on navigating while the system moderates your speed. Smart Cruise Control has the added benefit of being able to adjust itself to the traffic in front of your vehicle.

Hyundai SmartSense – Lane Keeping Assist

If you find yourself to be an unsteady driver, Lane Keeping Assist can help. It monitors road lines to keep you centered in your lane. This prevents you from accidentally crossing into another lane of traffic and causing an accident.

Hyundai SmartSense – Downhill Brake Control (DBC)

As the name suggests, Downhill Brake Control is a system that controls your brakes as you descend. Basically, it is a cruise control system for travelling at slow speeds down hills. You won’t have to worry about speeding up as you descend with this system automatically kicking in.

Hyundai SmartSense – Blind-spot Collision Warning

When your blind spot is being tricky, you can rely on the Blind-spot Collision Warning system to give you a second opinion. This system monitors the hard-to-see areas behind your vehicle. When you need to switch lanes, it can help you do so safely.
